Founded in 2021, we work with communities and frontline health workers to change how health systems are designed, implemented, and sustained in African contexts.

Unlocking potential, delivering excellence.
Across Africa, rural communities and health facilities face inadequate infrastructure, insufficient equipment, limited training resources, and barriers to quality care. These challenges persist not because solutions don't exist, but because the resources to implement them aren't accessible.
Powered by Health Initiative (PBHI) is a health systems strengthening organisation founded in 2021 with a singular commitment: to transform how health systems are designed, implemented, and sustained in African contexts. Effective health systems are built not from top-down mandates, but from genuine partnership with the communities and health workers at the frontline of care.
We work across the full spectrum of health systems strengthening, from strategic policy design to on-the-ground implementation, partnering with governments, health facilities, communities, and development organisations to create lasting change. When people are at the centre of health system design and execution, better outcomes follow.
