Women make up most of the health workforce across Africa, yet they remain under-represented in leadership and decision-making. The Women Leading in Health Initiative exists to change that.
The initiative supports women at every stage of their health careers, from students and early-career professionals to senior managers, to build the skills, confidence, and networks to lead.
What the initiative offers
- Leadership development and mentorship for women in health
- Training on gender-responsive leadership and health systems transformation
- A network of peers and role models across the continent
Gender-Responsive Leadership and Health Systems Transformation 2026
From 25 to 28 March 2026, the initiative hosted a four-day certificate webinar series on gender-responsive leadership and health systems transformation, with speakers from Nigeria and South Africa, led programmatically by Ijeoma Adigo, Programme Director and Gender-Responsive Project Lead.
