Gender-Responsive Leadership and Health Systems Transformation 2026 Concludes

Quote card: Every decision in health systems has consequences. Gender-responsive leadership ensures those consequences are not harmful, invisible, or unequal.

The Gender-Responsive Leadership and Health Systems Transformation 2026 certificate webinar series concluded on 28 March 2026. Over four days, health professionals and leaders from across Africa met online to examine, challenge, and reframe what it means to lead with equity at the centre.

Four sessions, four perspectives

  • Becoming a gender-responsive leader. Prof. Febechi B. Ugochukwu opened the series with a foundational session grounding participants in both the theory and the lived reality of gendered power within health systems.
  • Trauma-informed leadership and gender bias. Eloho Obukohwo named the structural barriers that too often go unacknowledged in professional spaces.
  • Decision-making power and influence. Mrs Hannah Oronge, CNO, showed how women can position themselves to shape policy and practice at the systems level.
  • Career growth, visibility, and networking. Chidubem Ahumaraeze closed the series with practical frameworks for women navigating advancement in the health sector.

Every protocol, allocation decision, and leadership appointment carries weight. The women who took part across these four sessions are the professionals shaping those decisions, and they deserve the tools, language, and networks to do so with full authority.

The series was sponsored by Powered by Health Initiative and led programmatically by Ijeoma Adigo, Programme Director and Gender-Responsive Project Lead. See the 2026 programme.
